DHAKA, Aug 24, 2026 (BSS) - Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman today attended the 21st Annual Commanders' Conference-2026 of the Bangladesh Infantry Regiment (BIR) as the chief guest at Shaheed Naqeeb Hall of the Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Centre (BIRC) in Rajshahi Cantonment.
The Army Chief exchanged views with commanding officers of Bangladesh Infantry Regiment units participating in the annual conference, said a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate here this afternoon.
Speaking on the occasion, he directed the members of BIR units to continue working in the service of the motherland.
Noting that BIR units would continue to serve as the backbone of the infantry force, the Army Chief highly appreciated their training and administrative activities.
Earlier, upon his arrival at the BIRC conference venue, he was received by the acting GOC of Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC), Commandant of BIRC and GOC of 11 Infantry Division and Bogura Area Commander, the ISPR said.
The acting GOC of ARTDOC, Commandant of East Bengal Regimental Centre (EBRC), Adjutant General and Military Secretary of the Army, Commandant of BIRC, GOC of 11 Infantry Division and Bogura Area Commander, Commandant of School of Infantry and Tactics (SI&T), senior officers from Army Headquarters and the concerned area, commanding officers of BIR units and personnel from various organisations attended the conference.
