KCC reviews dengue crash programme, adopts zonal mosquito control measures

KHULNA, Aug 20, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has stepped up its 
dengue prevention efforts by categorising the city into red, orange and 
yellow zones based on infection rates, with intensified mosquito control 
measures planned for high-risk areas.

The decision was taken at a review meeting on the ongoing dengue prevention 
crash programme held at Shaheed Altaf Auditorium in Nagar Bhaban this 
afternoon, chaired by KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju.

The meeting also decided to send letters to all government and private 
offices and educational institutions, urging them to maintain cleanliness on 
their premises. Another letter will be sent to the Health Ministry seeking 
measures to address the existing crises at Khulna Medical College Hospital 
and other government hospitals.

The meeting also decided to strengthen public awareness, set up medical camps 
in low-income areas and continue mobile court drives against cleanliness and 
mosquito control violations. Authorities were also asked to regularly monitor 
mosquito control activities, with ward-based engineers and field assistants 
helping supervisors during inspections.

KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed, Chief Engineer Mashiuzzaman Khan, 
Secretary Md Reza Rashid, Chief Revenue Officer Rahima Sultana Bushra, Chief 
Waste Management Officer Md Anisur Rahman, Chief Planning Officer Abir Ul 
Jabbar and other officials attended the meeting.
