RAJSHAHI, July 21, 2026 (BSS) –  Rail communication of Rajshahi with the rest of the country became normal this afternoon after about eight hours as the students of Rajshahi University withdrew blockade following suspension of Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) Suman, accused of beating a RU student on a train.  

TTE Suman, accused of beating RU student Furkan Uddin on a train, has been temporarily suspended today. Along with this, five important decisions have been taken, including formation of two committees to investigate the incident. 

After accepting the four-point demands of the students, the rail communication of Rajshahi with the rest of the country became normal at around 3:30 pm today after about eight hours of blockade. 

The decisions were taken at an emergency meeting held this afternoon at the Divisional Commissioner's office with representatives of the administration, railway authorities and Rajshahi University. 

According to the decision of the meeting, the accused TTE Suman has been temporarily suspended.

In addition, an internal investigation committee from the railways and another neutral investigation committee comprising the Additional District Magistrate, members of the Railway Security Force and representatives of Rajshahi University have been formed. 

Apart from this, arrangements will be made for the treatment of the victim student at the Railway Hospital. 

However, if he wants, he can also take treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

It has also been decided to start the stoppage of intercity trains at Rajshahi University station late at night. 

Another meeting will be held at the Divisional Commissioner's office on August 6 to review the overall progress. 

Earlier, from Tuesday morning, students of Rajshahi University blocked the railway line demanding punishment of the accused TTE and a fair investigation into the incident. 

Due to this, rail communication between Rajshahi and the rest of the country was closed for about eight hours. Trains were stuck at various stations and hundreds of passengers suffered. 

Later, when it was decided to accept the demands of the students at the meeting held at the Divisional Commissioner's office, they withdrew the blockade. 

After that, train services resumed and rail communication between Rajshahi and the rest of the country returned to normal.
