DHAKA, July 5, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 508 people during its routine anti-crime operations across the capital over the past 24 hours, while filing 50 cases. 

According to a DMP press release, the highest number of arrests was made in the Uttara Division (137), followed by Mirpur (95), Tejgaon (68), Gulshan (53), Ramna (52), Motijheel (48), Wari (32), and Lalbagh (23). 

During the drives, police recovered 1.26 kg of cannabis, 381 Yaba tablets, 8 grams of heroin, 12 bottles of foreign liquor, a sharp knife, 14 mobile phones, cash worth Tk 22,120, other incriminating items, and one victim was rescued in this connection.

The arrests were made in coordinated operations conducted by DMP's crime and detective units across different police station areas of the capital. 

Legal proceedings against the detainees are underway.
