DHAKA, June 8, 2026 (BSS) - The government has appointed new chairmen to five education boards and the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).
According to separate notificationsby the Secondary and Higher Education Division today, six senior BCS (General Education) cadre officials have been appointed to key positions in the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Boards, the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board and the NCTB.
As per the notifications, Prof. Faruque Azam Md. Abdur Salam, Principal of Government Haji Muhammad Mohsin College of Khulna, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education ofJashore.
Prof. Dr. Shamim Ara Chowdhury of the History Department has been appointed Chairman of the Rajshahi Education Board. She previously served as secretary of the same board.
Prof. Md. Ahsan Parvez, Principal of Government SACollege atDebidwar ofCumilla has been appointed Chairman of the Cumilla Education Board.
Meanwhile, Prof. Mohammad Fakhrul Maula of Government Commerce College in Chattogram has been appointed Chairman of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).
Besides, Prof. Syed Akhtaruzzaman has been appointed chairman of the Dhaka Education Board on deputation. He was previously serving as an officer on special duty at the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE).
In addition, Prof. Khondaker Mohammad Sadekur Rahman has been appointed Chairman of the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board. He previously served as Secretary of the Cumilla Education Board on deputation.
The reshuffle aims to make theeducation boards administrationmore dynamic, accountable and efficient.
