DHAKA, March 28, 2026 (BSS) - Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza 
Khanam (Rita) today expressed deep shock at the death of eminent educationist 
Professor Begum Dilara Hafiz, wife of the National Parliament Speaker of 
Major (retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, describing her as a dedicated 
figure in education and social welfare.

In a condolence message, the minister said Professor Dilara Hafiz's lifelong 
commitment to education and her tireless efforts for students' welfare would 
remain an inspiration in the country's academic arena.

She said the nation has lost an invaluable personality whose contributions to 
expanding education and nurturing human values will be remembered with 
respect.

The minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed 
sympathy to the bereaved family.

She also prayed to Almighty Allah to grant her Jannatul Ferdous and give 
strength to the family to bear the loss.
