DHAKA, Mar 28, 2026 (BSS) - A committee has been formed headed by the
Sergeant-at-Arms to investigate the sound system technical glitch that
occurred during the first session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS).
The committee has been asked to submit its report by April 3, 2026 to
determine whether any possible sabotage was involved in the incident.
The decision was taken at the first meeting of the House Committee held at
the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban today.
House Committee Chairman and Chief Whip Nurul Islam confirmed the matter to
journalists after the meeting.
He said the investigation committee has been formed under the leadership of
the Sergeant-at-Arms, who is responsible for overseeing the overall security
of Parliament.
The committee will examine two key issues: the first one is whether there was
any act of sabotage behind the sound system malfunction while the second is
the actual technical fault in the sound system and possible solutions to fix
it.
Experts from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) will
be invited to ensure an impartial technical evaluation of the problem, he
also said.
It is noted that the first session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad began on March
12. On the very first day of the session, parliamentary proceedings were
disrupted due to the technical glitch in the sound system, forcing a
temporary suspension of the session.
On the following day, an opposition member also expressed dissatisfaction
over the headphone and sound system issues.
The Chief Whip further said that many Members of Parliament have complained
about the headphones currently in use. As the existing large-sized headphones
are uncomfortable for prolonged use, steps have been taken to replace them.
The Chief Whip also expressed hope that the issue would be resolved quickly
based on the recommendations of the investigation committee, ensuring
smoother parliamentary proceedings in the future.
