DHAKA, March 28, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yeaser Khan Chowdhury today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Dilara Hafiz, spouse of Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad.

In a message of condolence, the state minister conveyed his profound grief at her passing and extended heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Dilara Hafiz breathed her last at Singapore General Hospital at 1:29 pm (Singapore local time) while undergoing treatment. She was 78.

She is survived by her husband, a son, a daughter, grandchildren, and numerous relatives and admirers.

The body of Dilara Hafiz will be brought back to Bangladesh tomorrow evening.

Her first namaz-e-janaza will be held at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 11 am on March 30. The second namaz-e-janaza will be held at the Central Mosque in Cantonment after Zuhr prayers, followed by her burial at Banani Military Graveyard
