DHAKA, March 24, 2026 (BSS) – Two Russian Navy ships, ‘Rezkiy’ and ‘Soverchenny’, arrived today at Chattogram port for a four-day goodwill visit to Bangladesh.
Upon arrival, the Chief Staff Officer of Commander Chattogram Naval Area welcomed the visiting ships’ captains, officers, and sailors, said a release of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate here this evening.
Russia’s Deputy Ambassador to Bangladesh, military, air, and naval attachés, as well as senior officials of the Bangladesh Navy attended the ceremony. Earlier, as the ships entered Bangladesh waters, Bangladesh Navy vessel BNS Umar Farooq formally greeted them.
During their stay in Bangladesh, the visiting ship captains and a delegation including Russia’s Deputy Ambassador will meet Commander Chattogram Naval Office, Area Superintendent Dockyard, and the Chairman of Chattogram Port Authority.
They will lay wreaths at Redkin Point, the resting place of Russian naval sailor Yuri Redkin and visit naval training facilities, the ships themselves, and significant historical and tourist sites in Chattogram. Bangladesh Navy officers and sailors will also visit the Russian vessels.
The goodwill visit is expected to enhance professional experience exchange and strengthen bilateral naval relations between the two countries, while further consolidating the existing friendly ties between Bangladesh and Russia.
The Russian Navy ships are scheduled to leave Bangladesh waters on March 27.
