Mir Helal's Eid reunion draws large crowd in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, March 23, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Land and Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin organized a colorful Eid reunion at his residence 'Dalia Kunje' located in the Chatteshwari Road area of the city. 

The event, held on the second day of Eid, saw thousands of people from various walks of life, including leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliates from different areas, participating from morning to evening.

The festive atmosphere was enjoyed by all, with State Minister Mir Helal, his father BNP Vice Chairman Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin, and family members exchanging greetings and extending Eid wishes to the guests.

Political leaders, activists, businessmen, lawyers, teachers, journalists, professionals, freedom fighters, family members of martyrs of the July Mass Movement, and injured fighters attended the event. Traditional Chattogram hospitality was provided to the guests. State Minister Mir Helal mentioned that the country had suffered from authoritarian misrule for fifteen years.

Despite disappearances, murders, and torture, a long struggle led by Begum Khaleda Zia and the current Prime Minister Tarique Rahman resulted in the restoration of democracy, he said.

The successful mass movement on August 5 ended the fascist rule, and a democratic government was established through fair elections. The State Minister highlighted the government's plan to develop the country within a month of its activities. He emphasized the importance of unity to achieve the Prime Minister's vision for a prosperous nation.

City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain, Ershad Ullah, MP, Abu Sufian, MP, BNP Central Joint Labor Affairs Secretary A M Nazim Uddin, Central Member Shamsul Alam, and City BNP Member Secretary Nazimur Rahman attended the event. Other notable attendees included Chattogram University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Al Forkan, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Kamal Uddin, Noakhali University of Science and Technology Vice Chancellor Professor Mohammad Ismail, and Chattogram South District BNP Convener Idris Mia. 

Professionals and journalists such as Chattogram District Bar Association President Advocate Abdus Sattar, General Secretary Advocate Hasan Ali Chowdhury, Chattogram Press Club President Zahidul Karim Kochi, and Chattogram Metropolitan Journalists Union President Mohammad Shahnawaz were also present. The program was well-attended by top leaders of the BNP and its affiliated organizations, former chairmen of various upazilas, and representatives of socio-political organizations in the district and metropolitan areas.
