KUSHTIA, March 16, 2026 (BSS) - A prayer and iftar mahfil was held in Kumarkhali upazila of the district on Sunday seeking eternal peace for the late former BNP Chairperson and three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

Leaders and activists of the upazila and municipal units of BNP organized the programme in the afternoon at Abul Hossain Torun Auditorium of the upazila town.

Former general secretary of Kumarkhali Municipal BNP Principal Tariqul Islam Lipon presided over the event while upazila BNP organizing secretary Jahangir Hossain Jilal moderated the program.

Former Member of Parliament and freedom fighter Syed Mehedi Ahmed Rumi attended the event as the chief guest.

Among others, it was present, by Advocate Shatil Mahmud, former member secretary of the upazila BNP and general secretary of Kushtia Bar Association, Principal Nawab Ali, former joint general secretary of the upazila BNP, Abdur Razzak Bachchu, former joint general secretary of the district BNP and KM Alam Tomey, former president of the municipal BNP.

Leaders and activists from district, upazila, municipal and union-level BNP units, along with members of affiliated organizations, attended the iftar and prayer gathering.

Khatib Hafez Abdus Salam of Kumarkhali Railway Jame Mosque conducted the prayer mahfil.
