RAJSHAHI, March 15, 2026 (BSS) - City unit BNP General Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman Riton has joined as the administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC).

Riton submitted his joining letter to Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in Dhaka today.

Later, along with other newly appointed city administrators, Riton paid tribute by placing wreaths at the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

On the occasion, he pledged to work toward building a people-friendly city.

Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said the expectations of city residents would be fulfilled and citizen services would be ensured. He added that initiatives would be taken to control mosquitoes, preserve the city's reputation as a clean and green urban area and develop it to international standards.

The government appointed the 48-year-old BNP leader as the administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation on Saturday. He is expected to formally assume his responsibilities at the City Hall on Monday.
