He said BNP candidate Md. Rezaul Karim Badsha will contest the election with the “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol while Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md. Abidur Rahman with Daripalla symbol.

Besides, a candidate of Bangladesh Development Party will contest the election with the “Cauliflower” symbol, he said adding that the election atmosphere in the constituency is very good.

Bogura-6 seat fell vacant as Prime Minister Tarique Rahman relinquished the seat prior to taking oath as per law following his win in two parliamentary seats on February 12 national election.

As there is no provision to hold membership of two parliamentary seats simultaneously, he retained the Dhaka-17 seat and vacated the Bogura-6 seat. The EC later declared the seat vacant and announced a fresh election schedule.

According to the schedule announced by the Election Commission (EC), voting in the Bogura-6 by-election and the general election in Sherpur-3 will be held on April 9 from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm without any break.
