DSCC’s special cleaning drive in Dhalpur

DHAKA, Mar 14, 2026 (BSS)- Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has conducted a special cleaning and mosquito control drive in the capital’s Dhalpur area to prevent dengue and improve the city's environment. 

Besides, new vehicles have been handed over and a technical training workshop for drivers and mechanics has been inaugurated to make the cleaning activities more modern and dynamic.

This programme was arranged this morning as part of the nationwide anti-mosquito drive in every Saturday at the Prime Minister's directives.
 
DSCC Administrator Md. Abdus Salam inaugurated the programme. 

In his inaugural speech, the DSCC administrator said, following the Prime Minister's directives, this weekly special drive is being conducted in every ward. 

Currently, DSCC's month-long 'Crush Program' is underway, through which dengue prevention and cleanliness of the city is being ensured.

He said that no laxity will be shown in the cleanliness activities and lighting the street lights in public interest.

Abdus Salam said illegal encroachers will be evicted to eliminate water logging and destroy mosquito breeding grounds. Canals and water grounds will be restored at any cost with the cooperation of the people, he said.

Officials said about two hundred sanitation workers participated in today’s drive. They removed the accumulated waste from the drains, canals and roadsides in addition to spraying larvicides.

A rally was also organized to raise awareness among the local residents. After the cleanliness drive, the DSCC Administrator handed over the new vehicles purchased under the ‘Dhaka South City Corporation’s Modern Vehicle and Machinery Procurement and Mechanized Parking Establishment Project’.

The vehicles include five three-wheel road rollers with eight-ton capacity, three tire dozers, one low-bed trailer and 10 water tankers with 5,000 liters capacity. 

The Administrator said that through the use of these modern vehicles, DSCC will be able to play a more effective role in achieving the ‘Clean City, Green City’ goal.

Later, the administrator inaugurated a short-term technical training workshop for drivers and mechanics.
