DHAKA, Mar 13, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has extended support for the treatment of an orphan girl, Jannati, after a video came to his notice about the girl's condition circulated on social media.

The video of Jannati with an appealing statement, "I have been lying in bed for five months, I have no father or mother," drew attention online and came to the notice of BNP Chairman and chief patron of 'Amra BNP Poribar' Tarique Rahman.

In the video, Jannati had appealed for assistance from the public for her treatment.
 
After seeing the video, the Prime Minister directed Amra BNP Poribar Convener Atikur Rahman Ruman to take necessary steps for the treatment of Jannati. 

Following the instruction, a delegation of the organisation led by Member Secretary Agriculturist Mokhchedul Momin Mithun went to the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) in Savar on the outskirts of the capital today and inquired about Jannati's health condition. 

The delegation also conveyed the Prime Minister's message of sympathy and support while providing assistance for her treatment.

Jannati has become largely paralysed due to a spinal cord injury, which has left most parts of her body immovable.

Amra BNP Poribar members Masud Rana Liton and Mustakim Billah and Dhaka College Chhatra Dal leader Abdullah Al Misbah were present during the visit.
