DHAKA, March 13, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today distributed prizes and trophies among the winners of an Azan and Qirat competition aimed at encouraging BGB soldiers to practice Qirat with proper pronunciation and deliver the Azan in a melodious voice.
BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui distributed the prizes and trophies among the winners at a function held at the Central Jame Mosque of Pilkhana this afternoon.
Officials of all levels of BGB, soldiers, and civilian officers and employees were present on the occasion.
Earlier, the final round of the three-day Azan and Qirat competition was held at the Central Jame Mosque of BGB Headquarters in Pilkhana from March 11.
In the Azan competition, Lance Naik Mohammad Zakaria of Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) under Ramu Sector secured first place, while Sepoy Md Saiful Islam of Dhaka Battalion (BGB-5) under Dhaka Sector achieved second place.
In the Qirat competition, Naik Md Bilal Ahmed of Habiganj Battalion (55 BGB) under Sreemangal Sector secured first place, while Sepoy Md Rakibul Islam of Kushtia Sector Headquarters achieved second place.
In the team category of both Azan and Qirat competitions, Ramu Sector emerged as champion while Kushtia Sector became the runner-up.
