DHAKA, Mar 11, 2026 (BSS) – A court here today granted bail to journalist Anis Alamgir in a case lodged by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for amassing illegal wealth and laundering money abroad.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order after holding a hearing on the matter.

The anti-graft body filed the case on January 15. Investigation officer and ACC Assistant Director Akhteruzzaman pleaded to show Anis arrested in the case on January 25. Anis was shown arrested in the case on January 28.

Anis was taken into Detective Branch (DB) of Police custody on December 14, 2025. A couple of hours later, he was shown arrested in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act with the city's Uttara West Police Station.

The case was filed by one Arian Ahmed, believed to an organiser of the July Revolutionary Alliance, against Anis Alamgir, actress Meher Afroz Shaon and two others. The other accused are fashion model Maria Kispatta and presenter Imtu Ratish Imtiaz.
