DHAKA, March 10, 2026 (BSS) - Civil Aviation Academy has stressed prioritising human resource development to ensure safety and efficiency in the country's aviation sector, highlighting the importance of competency-based training aligned with international standards.
The emphasis came at a seminar titled "Training Competency Development Framework" held at the Civil Aviation Academy today, according to a press release issued by Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).
Speaking at the seminar, Deputy Director (ATM) Mohammad Mojibur Rahman Miyaji said a skilled workforce has become essential for ensuring safe and efficient aviation operations.
"Technology and infrastructure alone cannot guarantee safe operations. Competent professionals form the primary foundation for an effective aviation system," he said.
ICAO instructor and Director of the Civil Aviation Academy Prashanta Kumar Chakraborty, presented an overview of international aviation training standards.
He said the ICAO Global Aviation Training Programme has unified aviation training activities worldwide under a single framework to ensure quality and consistency.
"The TRAINAIR PLUS Programme enables member institutions to develop competency-based courses while fostering international collaboration. This ensures our training meets global standards," he added.
The academy's recent achievements also reflect its growing commitment to international excellence.
The Civil Aviation Academy regained its ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS membership in 2022, having operated independently since its establishment in 1975.
Within three years, the institution advanced from basic membership to Silver status in 2024 and Gold membership in 2025, placing Bangladesh among a select group of countries meeting the highest international aviation training standards.
Officials from CAAB, instructors of the academy and aviation professionals attended the seminar.
Participants discussed strategies to strengthen competency-based training systems and address human resource gaps in the rapidly expanding aviation sector.
Speakers noted that with the continued growth of Bangladesh's aviation industry, sustained investment in workforce development remains crucial to maintaining safety standards while accommodating rising air traffic and operational demands.
