DMP files 1,092 cases for traffic law violations in capital

DHAKA, March 9, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 1,092 cases against traffic law violators during a drive conducted in different areas of the capital.

According to a DMP press release, 92 cases were filed in the Traffic-Ramna division, including 11 buses, 2 covered vans, 5 CNGs and 34 motorcycles. In the Traffic-Lalbagh division, 74 cases were filed, involving 6 buses, 4 trucks, 1 covered van, 7 CNGs and 30 motorcycles.

A total of 71 cases were filed in the Traffic-Motijheel division, including 5 buses, 5 covered vans, 13 CNGs and 36 motorcycles, while 136 cases were filed in the Traffic-Wari division involving 14 buses, 23 trucks, 18 covered vans, 21 CNGs and 29 motorcycles.

Meanwhile, 106 cases were filed in the Traffic-Tejgaon division, including 10 buses, 4 trucks, 4 covered vans, 9 CNGs and 51 motorcycles. In the Traffic-Mirpur division, 171 cases were filed involving 14 buses, 3 trucks, 20 covered vans, 29 CNGs and 74 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Uttara division recorded the highest number of cases with 231, including 29 buses, 11 trucks, 16 covered vans, 33 CNGs and 71 motorcycles. In the Traffic-Gulshan division, 211 cases were filed, involving 12 buses, 6 trucks, 19 covered vans, 22 CNGs and 54 motorcycles.

During the operation, a total of 360 vehicles were dumped and 144 vehicles were wrecked.

The cases were filed during a drive conducted by the Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police across different parts of the capital on Sunday (March 8).

The DMP's Traffic Division said such drives will continue in the Dhaka metropolitan area to maintain traffic discipline.
