DSCC orders 30pc fuel cut for officials' vehicles

DHAKA, March 9, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has directed a 30 percent reduction in fuel supply for vehicles used by its officials as part of measures to implement the government's directive on electricity and energy conservation amid the current global crisis.

The decision was announced in an office order signed by DSCC Secretary Mohammad Nasim Ahmed today.

According to the order, fuel supply to vehicles used by DSCC officials will be reduced by 30 percent, while vehicles used for waste management activities will receive 20 percent less fuel.

The order also instructed authorities concerned to limit the overall use of vehicles for official purposes.

To ensure electricity savings, the directive said electric lights should be avoided during daytime when sufficient natural light is available and windows, doors or blinds should be kept open to allow natural lighting.

It also instructed that only half of the existing lights be used and unnecessary lights, fans and air conditioners (ACs) be switched off.

The order further said that the temperature of air conditioners must be maintained at 25 degrees Celsius or above.

Officials have been asked to ensure that all electrical appliances, including lights, fans, computers, printers and ACs, are switched off while leaving office rooms.

The directive also asked authorities to keep unnecessary lights off in corridors, staircases and washrooms and to avoid decorative lighting.

The order will come into effect immediately following approval from the appropriate authorities.
