60 arrested in DMP's special drives across several police stations

DHAKA, March 9, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested a total of 60 people involved in various crimes during day-long special operations conducted in several police station areas of the capital on Saturday and Sunday.

Police said the drives were carried out in Shah Ali, Bhashantek, Mirpur Model, Kafrul, Rupnagar, Darussalam, Pallabi and Uttara Purba police station areas to curb criminal activities and maintain law and order, according to a police press release.

According to Shah Ali Police Station sources, a special operation conducted on Saturday in different areas under the station led to the arrest of 17 people on charges including drug trading, drug abuse, robbery and as wanted accused in different cases. 

The arrestees are Rubel Molla (35), Md. Abul Sheikh (40), Md. Alamin (27), Md. Aman (25), Md. Ershad (25), Md. Rabbi (20), Md. Bulbul Ahmed (25), Md. Sohrab Hossain (34), Md. Akash (21), Md. Tuhin (21), Md. Rezaul Ganji (24), Md. Abul Kalam (28), Md. Robin (26), Md. Abul Kalam (40), Md. Liton (30), Mozammel Mridha (50) and Md. Badsha (19).

Bhashantek Police Station arrested three people-Kaju Mia (38), Md. Abdullah Saman (19) and Ahad (24)-during a similar operation on Saturday.

Mirpur Model Police Station arrested six people: Babul (30), Russell (34), Mamun Gazi (22), Ruhul Amin (35), Russell Mia (30) and Mohammad Hossain (35).

Kafrul Police Station arrested four people-Arif (20), Mehedi (22), Asadullah Sumon (23) and Rashed Gazi (28).

Rupnagar Police Station arrested six people: Russell (27), Alauddin (28), Shipon (45), Akram (20), Anand (20) and Monir (19).

Darussalam Police Station arrested six people-Md. Jalal Hossain (42), Md. Jewel Mia (28), Anwar Hossain Selim (35), Md. Hasan (18), Sabbir Rahman (19) and Md. Babul Mia (47).

Pallabi Police Station arrested nine people: Sabbir (26), Sajib Mia (24), Bashir (37), Faisal (29), Mamun Sardar (37), Abdil (19), Sumon (19), Badal (23) and Omar Faruk (28).

Meanwhile, Uttara Purba Police Station arrested nine people on Sunday (March 8). The arrestees are Md. Noman (38), Md. Liton (31), Sohel Rana (45), Hridoy (38), Md. Sajeeb Hossain Babu (23), Md. Saiful Islam (25), Md. Rafiqul Islam (34), Saiful Islam Sohag (28) and Md. Sabbir Hossain (18).

Police said the arrested persons have been sent to the concerned court.

DMP also said such operations will continue to maintain law and order in the capital.
