DHAKA, Mar 08, 2026 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today ordered National Citizens Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary to appear on April 21 in a case filed over allegations of defamation, criminal intimidation, and insulting Mirza Abbas, the Prime Minister's political adviser and a member of the BNP Standing Committee.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Hasan Shahdat issued the summon after recording the statement of the complainant, Md Ashraful Islam, president of the BNP Ramna Thana unit.
According to the complaint, Patwary suffered a "huge-margin defeat" to Mirza Abbas in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
"During the election, the accused made false, malicious and defamatory remarks about Mirza Abbas on different occasions. Even after losing the election by a huge margin, he continued making defamatory statements and issuing threats via social media posts and online newspapers," the plaintiff said.
The complainant also described Patwary as "a lawbreaker of dishonest character" and prayed to the court to issue an arrest warrant against him and send him to jail.
