DHAKA, March 6, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today sent two members of a fake
currency gang to jail in a case filed under the Special Powers Act.
The accused are Naimul Islam Ishan, 19, and Kefayet Ullah, 19.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Siddique Azad passed the order after police
produced the duo before the court and requested that they be remanded in
custody until the completion of the investigation.
A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-3 raided a flat in a four-storey
building in the Dalipara area under Turag Police Station on March 5 and
arrested the accused. Authorities recovered 5,005 counterfeit notes of Taka
500 denomination, with a market value of Taka 25,02,500.
Additionally, items used in producing the fake currency were seized,
including one laptop, two laser printing dies, one printer, and three
smartphones.
A case has been filed against the accused at Turag Police Station under the
Special Powers Act in connection with the incident.
