DHAKA, Feb 15, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General and coordinator of the liaison committee of the 11-party alliance Dr AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad today said they want to play a constructive role as an opposition party in the parliament.

He made the remarks after leaders of the 11-party alliance visited the Bangladesh Election Commission at Agargaon around 11:00 am and placed specific allegations regarding the results of 32 constituencies in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Election.

Speaking to journalists after submitting their allegations, Azad said, "We want to play a constructive opposition role in parliament." He expressed the hope that, by respecting the people's mandate, all parties would work in unity to build the country.

Azad said the "July Charter" was formulated through immense sacrifice and selfless dedication. Referring to the spirit behind the charter, he underscored the need to uphold democratic values and ensure that the people's verdict is duly honored.

Calling upon the Election Commission to investigate the allegations impartially, he said political solutions should be reached through democratic and constitutional processes. "We believe that any dispute arising from the election should be resolved within the framework of the constitution and democratic norms," he added.

The Jamaat leader also expressed concern over alleged incidents of violence reported in different parts of the country before and after the election. He termed such incidents worrying and urged all stakeholders to exercise restraint in the greater interest of national stability.
