DHAKA, Jan 10, 2026 (BSS) - Police today arrested 16 individuals involved in various criminal activities during a day-long special operation conducted in different areas under Uttara West Police Station. 

The arrestees include individuals with pending cases as well as those involved in multiple offenses.

The arrested persons are Shakil Ahmed (30), Saad Ibne Mahbub (22), Kawsar Hossain (19), Md. Sajeeb (17), Md. Junayed (14), Md. Nushin (16), Maqsud Islam Mithil (21), Md. Sunny (20), Md. Ibrahim (30), Md. Zakir Hossain (27), Md. Yamin (21), Md. Parvez (19), Md. Salam Chowdhury (35), Md. Nasir Uddin Naeem (23), Ali Hossain (22), and Md. Shakil (25).

Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed their arrests. 

Police seized two PVC banners, three mobile phones, two iron-made sharp blades, two hammers, two knives, five puria (small packet) of marijuana, one piece of yaba, and one puria of heroin from their possessions during the operation.

After the arrests, all accused were sent to the court.

Uttara West Police Station authorities added that such special operations will continue regularly to maintain law and order in the area.
