Smuggled goods, yaba worth Tk 5.43 lakh seized in Cox's Bazar, Kurigram

DHAKA, Sept 7, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 385 Burmese yaba tablets and smuggled goods worth a total of Tk 5.43 lakh in separate drives in Cox's Bazar and Kurigram border areas on September 6-7.

Two separate BGB press releases issued here today disclosed the information.

In Cox's Bazar, Ramu Battalion (30 BGB) seized 385 Burmese yaba tablets worth Tk 1.15 lakh and a mobile phone valued at Tk 20,000 from a passenger of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Morichya Joint Checkpost around 9:40am today.

The passenger, Mohammad Hasn, 26, was detained after the yaba tablets were found concealed on his body during a search. He was travelling from Morichya towards Cox's Bazar.

The detainee, along with the seized yaba and other items, is being handed over to Ramu Police Station in a regular case, said the release.

Meanwhile, Kurigram Battalion (22 BGB) seized smuggled goods and cattle worth Tk 4,07,925 in separate drives during the same period.

The seized items included 185 kilograms of jute, 5,011 pieces of cosmetics and four cattle from different border areas.
