JnUCSU Chatra Dal VP candidate pledges to work with whoever is elected

DHAKA, Jan 06, 2026 (BSS) – Md Rakib, a vice-president (VP) candidate of the Chatra Dal-backed ‘Oikoboddho Nirbik Jobian’ panel in the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JnUCSU) elections, today said he would work with whoever is elected in the polls.

“I will always remain ready to work in the interest of Jagannath University,” he told reporters after casting his vote at the university’s Botany Department centre.

Md Rakib said that after a long wait, the JnUCSU elections are finally being held today. “The large turnout of general students has inspired us. We want the real representatives of the students to be elected through a fair and transparent process. We will remain on the field until the results are announced,” he added.

He said that no major irregularities had been reported so far during the voting.

Expressing optimism, he said he was hopeful about the outcome of the election.

This time, a total of 16,645 voters are participating in the JnUCSU and Hall Union elections.

According to the Election Commission, voting is underway at 178 booths in 39 centres across the university.

A total of 157 candidates are contesting for 21 posts in the JnUCSU election, while 33 candidates are vying for 13 Hall Union posts.
