DHAKA, Aug 17, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a huge quantity of Indian smuggled goods and drugs worth over Tk 1.77 crore in five separate drives in different border areas of the country.

According to BGB press releases issued today, Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) seized Indian cosmetics, blankets, chocolates, tea leaves, snacks, wood, biscuits and three wooden boats during operations from August 16 to 17. The estimated value of the seized goods was Tk 17.28 lakh.

Sarail Battalion (25 BGB) seized a truck carrying 9,000 kilograms of illegally imported Indian cumin in Brahmanbaria's Bijoynagar. The estimated value of the cumin and truck was Tk 1.20 crore.

Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB), in separate operations, detained one person and seized Indian tapentadol tablets, cannabis, cyproheptadine and dexamethasone tablets, liquor and cigarettes worth Tk 20.69 lakh.

Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB) seized Indian mehendi, energy drinks, fuchka, basmati rice, fireworks, wood, cattle, a motorcycle, an easy-bike, yaba tablets and beer worth around Tk 20.02 lakh in separate operations.

Meanwhile, Khulna Battalion (21 BGB) seized 223 bottles of Indian Eskuf syrup from the Putkhali border area.

The paramilitary force said its intelligence surveillance and anti-smuggling operations will continue to ensure border security and prevent the smuggling of drugs and other goods.
