DHAKA, Dec 29, 2025 (BSS)- Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) today submitted charge sheet against PK Halder and 18 others for embezzling Taka 4.4 billion in the name of a fictitious company.
Mohammad Tanjir Ahmed, Assistant Director of the ACC told this to journalists at the commission headquarters here.
According to the ACC, a loan of Taka 4.4 billion was taken in 2014 from the FAS Finance and Investment Limited for a six-year term showing a fictitious company named Diya Shipping Limited. The company’s registered office was shown in city’s Gandaria area and its operational address was in city’s Dhanmondi area. However, investigations found no real existence of the company or its addresses.
The ACC investigation revealed that although 332 decimals of land in Kaliakair of Gazipur were shown as collateral against the loan, the land was grossly overvalued at the time of loan approval.
In 2014, a survey firm assessed the market value of the land at Taka 126.1 million, but in 2025 another survey firm determined the current value of the same land to be only Taka 8 million.
The investigation also found that the loan proposal was prepared and approved without any due verification, relying solely on documents submitted by the client. The loan was approved at the 163rd meeting of the board of directors of the FAS Finance on December 22 in 2014.
Out of the approved loan amount, Taka 4.2 billion was transferred through Bangladesh Bank cheques to the accounts of various financial institutions, while the remaining amount was also moved through different banks to the accounts of the related individuals and entities.
Subsequently, through multiple stages of transfers and conversions, the money was embezzled and laundered.
The ACC stated that the evidence has been found showing the involvement of members of the PK Halder syndicate in the embezzlement and money laundering.
In this case charge sheet was submitted against a total of 18 persons including chairman and former managing director of Diya Shipping Limited Shiba Prasad Banerjee, director Papia Banerjee, former managing director of Reliance Finance Limited Prashanta Kumar Halder along with chairman, vice chairman, directors and former managing director of FAS Finance and Investment Limited.
