DHAKA, May 10, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General and LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said 'Mother' is a small word, but its vastness is infinite.
“From birth until death, a person's ultimate refuge is their mother. Mother is a small word, but its vastness is infinite,” he said in a message marking the ‘Mother-Day.’
Fakhrul extended his heartfelt congratulations and good wishes to all mothers in Bangladesh and around the world. “I wish for their prosperity and good health. Although there is no need for a specific day or time to honor one’s mother,” he said.
The veteran BNP leader further said, “A mother shows the child the light of the world. That is why a child's love exists for their mother every day, yet this day is set aside to express that love distinctly.”
“At the root of a child's success lies the mother's energy and initiative. This devoted person remains uncompromising and struggling in every way to raise her children. A mother is a sources of immense strength,” he added.
Mentioning the contributions of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, Fakhrul said, “The contributions made by our late Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia for the advancement of women in society while she was in power have been praised both at home and abroad.
The Deshnetri's contribution to the financial and social progress of this country is legendary.
Even though she faced the terrible wrath of the regime for trying to restore the plundered democracy, she never deviated one bit from her duties.
That is why late Begum Khaleda Zia is universally respected and congratulated today as the 'Mother of Democracy' on the national and international stage.”
The minister prayed for Khaleda Zia. “On this glorious day, I pray to Almighty Allah that He grants late Begum Khaleda Zia a place in Jannah (Heaven).”
