DHAKA, Dec 29, 2025 (BSS) - Md Aminul Islam Raju, an accused in the case
filed over the murder of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, has
confessed that he helped prime accused Foysal Karim Masud flee to
neighbouring India through the Haluaghat border in Mymensingh.
Revealing the matter before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate
Mohammad Ehsanul Haque, Investigating Officer (IO) of the Detective Branch
(DB) of Police Inspector Foysal Ahmed said Raju, during his five-day remand,
admitted helping Foysal and one of his accomplices escape to India.
The IO requested that Raju's statement be recorded under Section 164 of the
Code of Criminal Procedure. After recording the confessional statement, the
court sent Raju back to jail.
Md Aminul Islam Raju was arrested on December 24 from the Mirpur-11 area of
the capital. On the same day, Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad
Hossain Mohammad Zunaid placed him on a five-day remand in the case.
After fatally shooting Hadi, prime accused Foysal Karim Masud and his
associate Alamgir Hossain fled to India through the Haluaghat border, which
was revealed through electronic and print media, as well as technological
evidence.
Earlier on December 20, the court ordered the inclusion of Section 302
(murder) of the Penal Code in the case, converting it into a murder case
following Hadi's death on December 18.
Sharif Osman Hadi, an independent parliamentary candidate for Dhaka-8 and
spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho, was shot on December 12 in the capital's
Bijoynagar Box Culvert area.
According to the case statement, two assailants riding a motorcycle opened
fire on Hadi while he was travelling in a battery-run rickshaw and then fled
the scene.
Inqilab Moncho member secretary Abdullah Al Zaber filed the case with Paltan
Model Police Station on December 14 last.
