Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakkar Siddique issued this order on
Tuesday.

The court's Assistant Public Prosecutor Md. Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury stated
that the Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Court has directed the lawyer
Saiful Islam Alif murder case to be transferred to the Metropolitan Sessions
Judge Court for additional legal proceedings.

Jamal Uddin, the father of the martyred lawyer Alif, a member of the District
Bar Association, and the plaintiff in the case, was present in court at that
time. Subsequently, the judicial proceedings of the case will commence in the
Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court or any other court designated by the court.

are currently absconding. Arrest warrants, Hulia, and Croki warrants have
been issued against the fugitive accused. Notices have also been published in
newspapers.

On November 26 in 2024, lawyer Alif was brutally beaten and hacked to death
during a clash over the bail of Sanatani Jagran Jote spokesperson Chinmoy
Krishna Das at the Chattogram Court Building area.

Following the incident, his father Jamal Uddin filed a murder case with the
city's Kotwali Police Station, naming 31 individuals as suspects.

On June 1, 2025, the investigation officer of the case, Assistant Police
Commissioner Mahfuzur Rahman, who was serving in the Kotwali Zone of the
Chattogram Metropolitan Police at the time, submitted a charge-sheet to the
relevant branch of the Chattogram court in the Alif murder case.

A charge-sheet was filed in court accusing 38 people, including Chinmoy
Krishna Das Brahmachari, the spokesperson of the Sanatani Jagran Jote.

On August 25, the court accepted the charge-sheet against 39 people,
including Sukanta Dutta, after the investigation officer submitted it for
admissibility in the court of the then Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate SM
Alauddin Mahmud.
