Coast Guard opens warship to public on Victory Day in Bhola

BHOLA, Dec 16, 2025 (BSS) - On the occasion of Victory Day, Bangladesh Coast Guard South Zone opened its warship BCGS Taufiq to the public at Ilisha Launch Ghat in Sadar upazila, drawing large crowds eager to explore the ship and learn about the Coast Guard's operations.

From 12 noon to 4 pm, people from various walks of life, including families with children, visited the ship to get a firsthand experience of its capacity, modernization, and the role of the Coast Guard in maritime security. Coast Guard personnel guided the visitors throughout, explaining their operational activities in detail.

Speaking to the media, Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq highlighted the significance of the day. 

"Today, December 16, is the Great Victory Day. After a nine-month-long liberation war, Bangladesh gained independence in 1971 and emerged as a sovereign state. This day is observed every year with solemnity and enthusiasm," he said.

Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq added, "On this occasion, BCGS Taufiq was opened to the public to provide an opportunity to understand the Coast Guard's capacities and modernization. Our personnel assisted the visitors in inspecting the ship and explained its operational activities."

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, saying, "The Coast Guard will continue to serve the country and its people with dedication in the future."
