DHAKA, Dec 03, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar has said that structural reform and qualitative change in national leadership are the only ways to resolve the country’s existing problems.
“When the morality of a nation erodes, no structural or fundamental reform can succeed unless moral leadership is restored,” he told a community gathering on Tuesday evening at a convention hall in Birmingham, UK, organised by Probashi Voice UK Midlands, said a press release received here today.
Parwar said that once ethical leadership is established at the national level, longstanding grievances of Bangladeshi expatriates — including harassment at airports — would be resolved automatically.
He accused the previous fallen fascist regime of dismantling state institutions, saying that an Islamic, patriotic government would ensure expatriates’ demands. “We will take all necessary initiatives to fulfil these demands, InshaAllah,” he added.
The Jamaat secretary general said that his party had played a leading role in advocating for expatriate voting rights. He said Jamaat had endured severe repression during the long period of authoritarian rule.
“Central, district and upazila offices of Jamaat were forcibly shut down, and top leaders were executed. The party was ultimately banned. But the student uprising of ’24 has brought a new dawn to Bangladesh — this was solely by the mercy and help of Allah,” he said.
Parwar stressed that the pursuit of divine satisfaction is essential for success in the hereafter. “We seek Allah’s satisfaction by establishing His dwin on His land,” he said.
Ahead of the national election scheduled for February, he urged expatriates and all citizens to play an important role from their respective positions in establishing an Islamic welfare state.
Chaired by Probashi Voice President Syed Zamirul Islam Babur and conducted by Maulana Saifuddin, a memorandum was presented by Probashi Voice Secretary Abdus Salam Mohammad Masum at the event.
Community leaders Farid Mia, Maulana Lutfor Rahman Belal, Barrister Abdullah Mohammad Ismail, businessman Abdul Malik Parvez, Khelafat Majlish leader Enamul Hasan Sabir, Habibur Rahman, Dr M A Matin, Khandaker Kabir Uddin and Tanzim Mahbub were also present on the occasion.
