DHAKA, Nov 26, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former minister Farhad Hossain and his wife Syeda Monalisa Islam on charges of acquiring assets beyond known sources.
ACC director general Md Akter Hossain said that assistant director Khorshed Alam revealed the inconsistent of wealth through investigation.
According to investigation report, Farhad Hossain acquired and possessed assets moveable and immoveable worth of around Tk.2.43 crore, while evidence was found about his moveable and immoveable wealth worth of around Tk.1.95 crore. So, his acquired assets worth of around Tk.1.11 crore beyond his known sources of income, it said.
The ACC team found information of 12 bank accounts, where he transacted around Tk.6.54 crore, which was suspicious, the case details said.
It said apart from this, his wife amassed assets worth of around Tk.80 lakh, while she had not mentioned her legal source of income.
Akter Hossain said the ACC filed a case against former minister Farhad Hossain under Section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
Besides, case was also filed under the Section 4(2) and 4(3) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2012.
The ACC also filed case against Farhad’s wife Syeda Monalisa Islam under the Section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 and Section 109 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
