DHAKA, Nov 23, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today said that no human-made ideology or system can establish lasting peace and justice without following the social model of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

"During the Prophet's (PBUH) era, mosques were the centre of all state and social activities, and the society built around mosques was recognized by Allah as the world's best," he said.

Dr Shafiqur was addressing the National Conference 2025 of Combined Imams-Khatibs Council, held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in the capital.

Highlighting the importance of religious leadership, Jamaat Ameer said ensuring the full respect and authority of imams and khatibs is essential for establishing true justice, peace, and a humane society.

He emphasized that mosques should function not only as places of worship but also as centres of social governance, adding, "Mosque committees must be formed and guided based on the advice and leadership of imams and khatibs."

Dr Shafiqur Rahman also stressed that Bangladesh, as a Muslim-majority country, must have a society and legal system grounded in Quranic principles, while ensuring the religious freedom, civic safety, and rights of minority
communities.

He reiterated that imams and khatibs must not be excluded from mosque committee formation and decision-making, and that their respect and authority must be maintained at the highest level.

"The imam of prayers should serve as the imam of society, and through such leadership, true liberation and the restoration of justice can be achieved," he said.
