Workshop on Nagorik Sheba held

DHAKA, Nov 13, 2025 (BSS) - A daylong workshop was held today with entrepreneurs representing Citizen Service, Digital Centers and E-Post Centers from 64 districts to effectively implement the 'Nagorik Sheba Bangladesh' initiative.

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division in collaboration with the Aspire to Innovate (a2i) programme arranged the workshop at Dak Bhaban in the city's Agargaon area.

The workshop provided training on the objectives, goals and scope of the Nagorik Sheba platform, responsibilities of entrepreneurs, platform management and usage processes, live demonstrations of various services, including BMET and BRTA, e-government skills, branding of service centers, customer service and behavioral skills.

In addition, hands-on training was provided on the concepts of digital security, cyber security and information protection, and the safe use of various basic and advanced digital tools. 

Organisers said these skills will help transform service centers into more modern, efficient, and citizen-friendly centers, according to a press release of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology.

In his speech, ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury said cost and complexity are still major challenges for citizens in receiving government services in the country. 

In this context, he said, entrepreneurs of digital centres, citizen service centres and e-post centres are working as frontline fighters in the service delivery system. 
He said the entrepreneur-led service model is increasing the accessibility of services while ensuring the quality of services and citizen trust through trained entrepreneurs.

He further said to reflect the expectations of the common people for harassment-free and easy services, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus inaugurated the 'Nagorik Sheba Platform' on May 26, 2025.

 An opportunity is being created to receive various government services, including national identity card, birth registration, passport, online GD, land services, trade license, ticketing, social security, BRTA, agriculture and healthcare services from one platform. 

Currently, 465 services have been digitized and work is underway to gradually connect the services with Nagorik Sheba platform. 

Director General of the Directorate of Posts SM Shahab Uddin, its Director (posts) Kabir Ahmed, Joint Secretary of the ICT Division Md. Mujibur Rahman, Project Director (Joint Secretary) of a2i Md Abdur Rofiq, Joint Project Director (Joint Secretary) of a2i Md. Rashidul Mannaf Kabir and Head of Project Management of a2i Abdullah Al Fahim were present at the event.
