
DHAKA, Feb 12, 2026 (BSS) - One hundred and ten-years old Jamiron Nessa has inspired generations by casting her votes this morning that proves that democracy has no age limit.
Zamiron, whose body bent with age, came to the polling centre with the help of her daughter and grandson and cast her vote at 8.30 am at Khilgaon Model College center in Dhaka-9 constituency.
Voting for the 13th National Parliament Election is underway in a festive mood with a lot of excitement among people of all ages.
Giving her reaction, Jamiron said, “I am happy to cast my vote...I am grateful to almighty Allah for bringing me to the polling centre at this age.”
Dhaka-9 constituency consists of Khilgaon, Sabujbagh and Mugda. According to the Election Commission, the total number of voters in this constituency is 469,360. Out of this, 237,673 are male voters and 231,682 are female.
BNP candidate Habibur Rashid Habib, independent candidate Dr Tasnim Zara, National Citizens Party (NCP) candidate Mohammad Javed Mia, Islami Andolan Bangladesh's candidate Shah Iftekhar Ahsan, Jatiya Party's candidate Kazi Abul Khair, Gono Forum's candidate Najma Akhter, Bangladesh Communist Party's candidate Md. Moniruzzaman, Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (Marxist)'s candidate Khandaker Mizanur Rahman, National People's Party's candidate Shahin Khan, Bangladesh Muslim League's candidate Masud Hossain, Bangladesh Nationalist Front-BNF's candidate Mohammad Shafi Ullah Chowdhury, Insaniat Biplob Bangladesh's candidate Nahid Hasan Chowdhury Junaid are contesting from this constituency.
