DHAKA, Sept 17, 2025 (BSS) - Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) Amir Mufti Syed Md Rezaul Karim, Charmonai Pir, today reiterated his party’s demand for holding the upcoming national polls under Proportional Representation (PR) system so that no dictatorship could return to country under any circumstances.

“Thousands of our children made their supreme sacrifices in July Uprising as their expectation was to eradicate the dictatorship from the country forever. . .So the national elections should be held under PR system to compensate for the blood of the martyrs and injured as well,” he said.

The ‘Charmonai Pir, made the demand while addressing a gathering of Dhaka-18 unit of IAB at Shaheed Mughda Mancha at Uttara here this afternoon.

Referring to legal basis of the July Charter, the Charmonai Pir categorically said that the national elections must be held on its basis. 

“Besides necessary state reforms must be made and exemplary visible punishment of the July genocides’ perpetrators must be ensured,” Mufti Rezaul added.

 Alhaj Md Anwar Hossain, the IAB nominated candidate for Dhaka-18 constituency, presided over the meeting. 

Among others, party's Joint Secretary General and Spokesperson Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman, Dhaka City North Unit General Secretary Maulana Ariful Islam, Minority Affairs Secretary Muhammad Masum Billah, Dhaka City North Islami Sramik Andolan President Muhammad Abdul Aziz, Islamic Chhatra Andolan Dhaka City (North) President Muhammad Abu Hanif, Islami Juba Andolan  Dhaka City (North) President Maulana Hammad Bin Mosharraf and Dalipara Welfare Society President Alhaj Abu Zafar Alam also spoke on the occasion.
