Attack on traffic sergeant, motorcyclist fined Tk 5,000

DHAKA, Sept 7, 2025 (BSS) - The metropolitan magistrate court has fined a motorcyclist Taka 5,000 for pushing and attempting to beat an on-duty traffic sergeant Abdullah Al Mamun in the capital's Mirpur-10 intersection.
 
The incident occurred around 5:20 pm today, said a police press release.
 
According to the Traffic-Mirpur Division, Sergeant Abdullah Al Mamun signaled a helmetless motorcyclist while on duty at Mirpur-10 intersection, the release said.
 
At that time, the motorcyclist pushed the sergeant with his motorcycle and tried to beat the police officer after being angry as the sergeant made an attempt to stop him, it also said. 
 
The motorcyclist tries to create tension among the crowd by taking out his mobile phone for recording a video.
 
Pedestrians present at the spot arrested the accused motorcycle driver and handed him over to Mirpur Model Police Station along with the motorcycle, the release said.
 
Later, the Metropolitan Magistrate Court fined the accused driver Taka 5,000 under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Ordinance.
