RAJSHAHI, May 30, 2026 (BSS) - Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu has announced a plan to organize an international-standard cricket tournament in Rajshahi before the upcoming winter season.

The minister came up with the plan while inaugurating the Dr. A B M Mizanur Rahman Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Rajshahi Railway Ground this morning.
 
Mentioning the noble contributions of Dr. A B M Mizanur Rahman, the Land Minister said, "Doctor Mizan died while serving people during the extremely dangerous and critical time of the coronavirus pandemic." 

He promised to provide all kinds of financial and other necessary support in the future for the continued success of this tournament organized in memory of the distinguished social worker.
 
Addressing the youth, he said they must follow Dr. Mizan's ideals to grow into good citizens and dedicate themselves to serving the country.
 
He said the current underdeveloped communication system around the Rajshahi Railway Ground must be improved. 

There is a plan to build several major roads after discussions with the railway authorities. 

In addition, the ground will be made more beautiful and fully suitable for playing.
 
At the same time, he expressed his determination to bring international-level players to play at this ground, and also promised to provide all financial and other necessary assistance to ensure the success of such events.
 
Players and coaches from various cricket teams, government and non-government officials and employees, and other political figures were present at the event.
