DHAKA, Sept 7, 2025 (BSS) - Police in the last 48 hours have arrested six leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and its associate organisations from the capital's Khilgaon area on charges of bringing out flash processions to deteriorate the law and order.
The arrested as Dhaka District Dohar Thana Chhatra League President Shakil Ahmed (29), Khilgaon Thana Ward No. 3 Jubo League Publicity Secretary Jasim Khan (30), Khilgaon Thana Ward No. 74 North Nandipara Rasulbagh Unit Jubo League General Secretary Samiul Islam Hridoy (30), Khilgaon Thana Ward No. 2 Awami League Member Ahsan Habib (42), Khilgaon Thana Ward No. 2 Awami League Member Aminul Islam Liton (47) and Dhaka Metropolitan South Chhatra League member Md. Aminul Islam Rifat (28).
Deputy Commissioner of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed their arrest.
Jasim, Samiul and Shakil Ahmed were arrested from South Banasree area around 11:15 pm on Saturday.
On the other hand, another team of the police station arrested Ahsan Habib and Aminul Islam Liton from the Khilgaon C Block area around 12:15am and Aminul Islam Rifat from Khilgaon Tilpara around 01:30am today.
The arrestees were accused in multiple cases of specific charges.
They were involved in destabilizing law and order by holding sudden processions in different parts of the capital.
