CHATTOGRAM, May 18, 2025 (BSS) - A Chattogram court here today ordered to interrogate detained former-ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari at jail gate in the sensational advocate Saiful Islam Alif murder and sedition cases.
Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate S M Alauddin issued the order to quiz detained accused Chinmoy one each day in two cases allowing the petition moved by Investigation Officer of the cases, Asst Public Prosecutor advocate Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury said.
A sedition case has been filed with Kotwali Police Station against Chinmoy for allegedly desecrating the national flag during a rally in Ctg New Market areas last year.
He was also shown arrested recently in the advocate Alif murder case as per investigation report of IO.
A DMP DB team arrested Chinmoy from Dhaka airport on November 25 last year and was produced before a Ctg court on the following day.
On November 26, a Chattogram court sent Chinmoy to jail after rejecting his bail plea in the sedition case.
Following rejection of bail petition, his supporters staged a rowdy protest in and around the court building premises. At one stage of triangular clashes between Chinmoy supporters, police and protesters against rowdy demonstrations in and outside the court building, advocate Alif was beaten and chopped to death brutally.
A High Court benched granted bail to Chinmoy on April 30 while Chamber Judge of the HC later stayed the bail granting the appeal filed by the state side.
