DHAKA, May 12, 2025 (BSS) - Leaders and activists from a number of student organizations reaffirmed their commitment to country’s independence and sovereignty, unity and nationalism by singing the national anthem at DU campus.

At the call of DU JCD leader Sakib Biswas, leaders and workers of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), Bangladesh Gonotantrik Chhatra Sangsad, and Chhatra Union gathered at Raju Sculpture on Dhaka University campus this evening to sing the national anthem.

Sakib said the demonstration was a response to a recent attempt by Jamaat-Shibir activists to disrupt a similar national anthem event at Shahbagh.

Participants and pedestrians raised slogans affirming their commitment to Bangladesh’s sovereignty and rejecting any foreign-backed political influence.

The students chanted slogans like ‘Pakistaner Dalalera, Hushiar Sabdhan; Tumi ke, Ami Ke, Bangladeshi Bangladeshi’.

“Bangladesh is a sovereign nation. There is no place for the agents of Delhi or Rawalpindi in our politics,” Sakib said.

Convenor Gonotantrik Chhatra Sangsad Abu Baker Mojumder said, “Our politics must be rooted in the legacy of 1971. The people of Bangladesh will reject any force to undermine the struggle and sacrifice of 1971.”

The event marked a strong collective stand by student groups in defense of Bangladesh’s independence, unity, and democratic ideals.
