DHAKA, May 13, 2025 (BSS) – Biman Bangladesh Airlines has appointed 82 new Ground Service Assistants as part of its ongoing endeavour to increase manpower to ensure ground handling service for the newly built third terminal of the Hazrat Shahjalal international airport.
Biman, the national flag carrier, is solely responsible for providing ground service handling for all passengers and cargo airlines operating in Bangladesh.
The recruitment followed a widely publicized job circular that drew as many as 54,000 applications for the position, a Biman press release said here today.
A total of 1,930 candidates passed the written examination, out of which 380 were finally selected.
In the first phase, 69 candidates were appointed, followed by 82 in the second phase. Another 122 candidates have been placed on a waiting list.
In an appointment letter handing over ceremony at the Biman’s headquarters Balaka on Thursday, Biman’s Managing Director and CEO Dr. Shafiqur Rahman urged the new Ground Service Assistants to uphold high standards of passenger service, especially at the soon-to-be-operational the new third terminal.
This is a challenging field, and delivering satisfactory service to passengers is crucial in maintaining Biman’s image and the country's reputation, he added.
Biman has already purchased around TK 500 crore in procuring ground service equipment for improved passenger service at the third terminal, with another TK 500 crore worth of equipment currently in the procurement process.
