DHAKA, July 20, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) has issued a final notice to 1,085 educational institutions, asking why their teaching approval for the National Skills Standard Basic (360-hour) curriculum should not be cancelled due to prolonged failure to enroll students.

The board has issued the final show-cause notice seeking explanations from the institutions as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for not admitting students for a long period, according to a notification published today on the Bangladesh Technical Education Board's website.

According to the board's order attached to the reminder letter, institutions under the National Skills Standard Basic curriculum that have not enrolled any students for a long time had earlier been served two rounds of show-cause notices asking why their admission activities should not be suspended from the July-December 2026 session and why their teaching approval should not be cancelled or withdrawn.

Although the latest letter, issued on July 1, requested the institutions to submit their explanations by July 10, none of the 1,085 institutions concerned has submitted any explanation to the board's office so far.

The order said the latest communication should be treated as a "final reminder" and that the institutions must submit written explanations with appropriate justification to the Bangladesh Technical Education Board within the next seven working days. If no explanation is received within the stipulated time, it will be deemed that the institutions have no statement to make. 

At the same time, necessary administrative measures, including cancellation of the institutions' teaching approval and registration of the relevant courses, will be taken in accordance with the existing rules and regulations.

The list of the 1,085 institutions undergoing the approval cancellation process has been published on the official website of the Bangladesh Technical Education Board.
