DHAKA, July 20, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka University (DU) has waived tuition fees for students who were injured during the student-led July mass uprising.

The decision was approved at the university syndicate's meeting on June 22 following a recommendation from the Finance Committee, said a DU press release today.

The meeting was chaired by DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A B. M. Obaidul Islam.

The university has also undertaken month-long programmes to commemorate the second anniversary of the historic July mass uprising.

Under the observance, halls, faculties, departments and institutes will organise a series of events alongside the university's central programmes.

The commemorative activities include seminars, discussion and reminiscence sessions, essay and debate competitions, cultural programmes, experience-sharing events and the publication of souvenirs highlighting the July uprising.
