CHATTOGRAM, Sept 4, 2026 (BSS) - Reflecting on his educational journey, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said that he fondly recalls engaging in sports on both the large and small fields of his school, as well as taking part in regular assemblies during his academic years.

"It is a fortunate opportunity to reconnect with that institution, providing a 'refreshing' experience amid the hectic nature of politics. I am delighted to return to such an environment after a long time, surrounded by classmates, teachers, and others linked to the school," he said.
The minister came up with the comments as the chief guest while inaugurating the indoor sports zone, organized by the Collegiate Club at the Chattogram Press Club today. He emphasized that the memories of school days and the bonds formed with teachers and classmates remain significant. The connection individuals have with their school extends beyond academics; it lays the groundwork for life, he said, adding that the education and values gained during school years are crucial in shaping one's future path.

The Finance Minister stated that the bond formed during school life is the most significant in individuals' lives, and the alumni club serves to reinforce that connection. 

"The relationships established at the onset of their educational journey leave a lasting impression on individuals' minds, even after many years. Initiatives such as the alumni club provide a platform for former students to rekindle that connection. Through the alumni club, former students have the chance to reunite after many years, allowing them to sustain communication, which is a highly beneficial initiative," he further said.
 
The primary strength of alumni lies in their mutual support. Former students may encounter various challenges related to personal matters, family issues, career paths, employment, or business ventures, he added. 

He said many of these challenges can be addressed through collaboration and the sharing of experiences among alumni members.
 
Emphasizing the need for the expansion of alumni club activities, Amir Khasru said that numerous educational institutions in the country have established alumni organizations. 

He suggested that collegiate clubs could become more effective and robust in the future, playing a crucial role in fostering communication, mutual support, and the advancement of the institution among former students.
