DHAKA, Aug 30, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee Member and Political Adviser to the Prime Minister Mirza Abbas is expected to return home on Wednesday (September 2), following five months of treatment in Singapore and Malaysia.
BNP Media Cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan today confirmed the information to BSS.
He said Mirza Abbas is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka by Biman Bangladesh Airlines at 9:00 pm on September 2. After undergoing medical treatment in Singapore and Malaysia for an extended period, he has recovered considerably following the advice of the medical board.
On March 11, Mirza Abbas suddenly lost consciousness during iftar. He was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the city, where a medical team comprising neurological specialists subsequently performed brain surgery on him.
Following the surgery and subsequent treatment, doctors advised him to undergo physiotherapy, leading to his transfer to Malaysia. He was then taken by air ambulance to Singapore General Hospital on March 15. He was later shifted to Prince Court Medical Centre, where he underwent physiotherapy for about a month, resulting in significant improvement in his health condition.
