RAJSHAHI, Aug 30, 2026 (BSS) - General students of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) submitted a memorandum demanding the removal of illegal structures built on land owned by RUET and the restoration of the university's boundary wall.

Students submitted the memorandum to the Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mahfuzur Rahman Riton at Nagar Bhaban at 11:30 am this morning.

At that time, the RCC Administrator received the memorandum from the students. He assured them that the matter would be considered with importance and necessary legal action would be taken.

In the memorandum, students mentioned that for a long time, various structures including a public toilet have been built on a portion of the university-owned land by demolishing RUET's boundary wall.
These structures have been built using the university's land, which is adversely affecting the security, environment and normal activities of the campus.

At present, right next to it, the construction work of the 10-storey academic building of the Faculty of Civil Engineering is in its final stage, which will be opened in the shortest possible time.

In this situation, on 29 August, 2026, about 600 students of RUET boycotted classes, labs and examinations and formed a peaceful human chain demanding the removal of the said illegal structures.

In this context, they requested that necessary measures be taken for the speedy implementation of the demands.

The students said all unauthorized and illegal structures built on RUET-owned land, including the public toilet and those built on the footpath adjacent to the boundary wall, must be removed quickly.

At the time of submitting the memorandum, Kazi Parvez Ahmed, Mubtasim Soumik, Shahan Al Riaz and other students were present.
